In order to address the problems being faced by transporters in Sindh, Provincial Minister for Transport Akhtar Jadoon would hold a meeting on August 16, Business Recorder learnt Friday. According to sources the meeting would also ascertain those losses which the transporters sustained during the recent violence in the city that broke out after the killing of MQM's MPA Raza Haider.
It is pertinent to mention that transporters had threatened to go on a wheels-jam strike if their losses were not compensated at the earliest. The meeting would also address the issue relating to a possible strike call by the transporters, sources said. At least ten bus drivers were killed and 25 sustained serious injuries in the recent violence. 50 mini-buses and coaches were also during the unrest.
