DCO Saeed Wahlah had suspended Dr Sadaqat, and Dr Azeem Hashmat and his wife Dr Tahira Azeem of Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Chak Jhumra, on the charge of absenteeism and had ordered inquiry against Dr Javed of THQ Hospital Samundri and Dr Qaisar Abbas THQ Hospital Chak Jhumra following the complaints of irregularities and bribes.
Meanwhile, local health department had withdrawn the powers of CMO from Dr Javed of THQ Samundri and Dr Akhtar Alam Basra had been entrusted the duties of issuing medico legal certificate. The DCO took these actions on the inspection report of District Co-ordinator for Health Ex-MPA Shaikh Ejaz Ahmad in which different irregularities and mismanagement by the administrative officers of THQ Hospitals of Samundri, Chak Jhumra and Tandiliawala were identified.
During the inspection the District Co-ordinator learnt that the absentee doctors had proceeded abroad without getting their ex-Pakistan leave sanctioned. Meanwhile, DCO Saeed Wahlah while presiding over a meeting directed that the criminal cases should be got registered against the doctors of government hospitals who were involved in serious irregularities and embezzlements.
He said the cases of the defaulter doctors should be referred to the Anti Corruption Establishment after placing them under suspension and their salaries should be stopped. During the meeting the implementation on pro-poor initiatives by the Punjab government in health sector in the district were reviewed.
The meeting was also attended by District Co-ordinator for Health Ejaz Ahmad and he presented his inspection report compiled by him during the visits of THQ Hospitals Chak Jhumra, Tandilianwala and Samundri. The DCO said the nomination of the Ejaz Ahmad as District Co-ordinator for Health would be proved helpful for improving performance of the government hospitals so the officers of health department should take immediate actions on the complaints and problems identified by the District Co-ordinator during his inspections.
He emphasised upon the judicious utilisation of the funds and every possible medical facility should be provided to the patients besides maintaining good governance in the hospitals.
District Co-ordinator Shaikh Ejaz Ahmad informed the meeting that C M Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif had taken revolutionary initiatives for the improvement of health facilities in the province and huge funds were allocated for making the government hospitals air conditioned and provision of free medicines and dialysis facilities besides arranging the most modern medical equipment and machinery in hospitals.
He said that the officers of the health department should perform their duties honestly in order for yielding good results in health sectors for the provision of quality medical treatment to the common men. He expressed his concerned over the mismanagement and poor cleanliness conditions in the THQ hospitals and said there was a big room for improvement.
During the meeting EDO Health Captain Dr Muhammad Siddique, Medical Superintendent DHQ Hospital Hafiz Mukhtar Randhawa and MS General Hospital and Allied Hospital and THQ Hospitals assured their full efforts for enhancing the quality of performance of the government hospitals in accordance with the desire of CM Punjab.
