Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) has organised a training course on gemstone identification at its Gem Exchange at Namak Mandi, Peshawar. Ilyas Ali Shah, a PGJDC geologist, is conducting this training course, said a press release issued here on Tuesday.
Around twelve participants from gems and jewellery industry are participating in this gemstone identification course. The prime objective of this course is to enhance the understanding of Gemology and the techniques and skills used in identifying synthetic, treated and real gemstones. This course is aimed to enable the participants get basic knowledge of gem identification, enabling them to apply this knowledge and skills in their professional endeavours.
The availability of gemstone identification laboratory at the Gem Exchange will be helpful the participants, as they will be able to look at the gemstone identification instruments firsthand. PGJDC recently conducted a similar training course on Gemstone Identification at Gem Exchange Peshawar in April. These two training courses on gemstone identification at Gem Exchange in quick succession reflect the interest of participants in acquiring gemstone knowledge and PGJDC's commitment to impart high-class training for the sector.
PGJDC official said that organising such training programmes is integral to the development of gems and jewellery sector as it enhances the skills of the gems and jewellery craftsmen and keeps their knowledge up-to-date with latest technology, techniques and trends. Following its trait of industry facilitation at the fullest, PGJDC has organised this course free of charge for its participants.
