Urdu Science Board has published 800 books on more then 25 different disciplines to provide quality science books in national language to the students and common people. The Director General of the Board, Iqbal Nabi Nadeem stated this while talking to the media men in the meeting at the board office on Monday.
He said that the books of the board were taught in the technical institutions run by Technical Training and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta). He also said that the board provides books at economy rates. Iqbal said that the two Urdu Science universities were already working in Karachi and Islamabad and another would soon start working in Lahore.
The board has already published a colourful and illustrated Urdu Science Encyclopaedia comprising ten volumes and now intends to revise and elaborate further in 15 volumes, having 312 pages each. About the new projects, he said that the board intends to develop computer software in the form of CDs for teachers and students of social and natural sciences, according to the relevant curriculum and syllabi to help them comprehend theories and concepts.
The Board also wants to produce an Encyclopaedia of Earth Sciences and the PC-1 of this project is also being drafted. Further, he said that the Board is working on the 'nau zabani lughat' (dictionary in nine languages). 'We have best translators, who are working on this project.' Iqbal also said that the Board has published post literacy material in collaboration with Unesco and NHCD and now intends to publish 50 more booklets for adult literacy.
