LONDON: The yield on British 10-year gilts touched its lowest level since October on Monday amid broad demand for investors for European government bonds triggered by a fresh election boost for pro-business French President Emmanuel Macron.
The 10-year gilt yield fell to 0.973 percent, its lowest level since Oct. 11.
Britain's gilt market was little affected by last week's shock election result which cost Prime Minister Theresa May her parliamentary majority, although ratings agency Moody's has said it could slow the push to bring down the budget deficit.
