Business community has congratulated newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan Makhdoom Yousuf Raza Gillani and hoped that government would make efforts to boost economic activities and improve investment climate.
They also hoped that the new government would initiate or make changes in economic policies in consultation with the business community. They assured that business community would fully support and cooperate with the newly elected prime minister in a speedy economic revival.
Leader of Businessmen Group (BMG) and former President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) Siraj Kassim Teli congratulating newly elected Prime Minister Gillani , hoped that the new government would take appropriate measures to improve law and order in the country and provide better working environment for development of business activities.
He further hoped that during the tenure of the new government, the continuity in the economic and commercial policies, which are conducive to the development of trade and industry, would be maintained and the role of the private sector in the socio-economic development of the country would be further strengthened.
Acting President of KCCI, Iftikhar Ahmed Shaikh, congratulated newly elected Prime Minister and said that the government should soon move to resolve business community problems on priority bases.
He said that the business community was facing serious problems of law and order, frequent power breakdowns, and increasing cost of doing business, and hoped that the new government would tackle and resolve them, while taking KCCI into confidence.
He also welcomed the move of MQM, for supporting PPP candidate as Prime Minister. It is a good move. It is also good for strengthening democratic institutions, he added. He said that Yousuf Raza Gillani is a seasoned politician and has vast experience. He also has the experience of holding the office of the Speaker, National Assembly.
Vice President of KCCI, Mohammed Haroon Agar congratulating Gillani, said that efforts should be made to bring the country out of economic recession. Inviting attention of newly elected Prime Minister towards frequent power breakdowns in the city, which have crippled industrial production, he hoped that the newly elected government would take appropriate measures to resolve the power crisis.
Pointing out towards textile sector, he said that this sector was facing serious crisis and tough competition in international market. Exports are declining, and production sliding down, and added that this sector needed special attention.
Chairman, Federal B Area Association of Trade and Industry (FBAATI) Idrees Gigi,,has welcomed Gillani and urged him to take business community in confidence while making trade and economic policies.
He also hoped that all further economic policies would be made in consultation with stakeholders. He said that Pakistan has huge natural resources, and efforts should be made to utilise them for production of value added goods.
He also hoped that concrete efforts would be made to improve law and order condition in the country especially, the suicidal attacks. Chairman Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) Shaikh Fazl-e-Jalil, while congratulating Gillani and PPP, hoped that economic policies would be made in consultation with all the stakeholders.
He said that Gillani has vast experience, including holding the office of the speaker of national assembly, and hoped that people will feel a positive change in working atmosphere in the country. Former Chairman. KATI, Shaikh Manzar Alam hoped that Pakistan will be economically strengthened, during his tenure.
He also hoped that Gillani would take appropriate measures to pull country out of big challenges like increase in prices of essential goods, power crises, law and order problems, economic slowdown, etc.
