Pakistan batsman Umar Akmal has smashed an impressive century at Patrons Trophy (Grade-II), just days after he was dropped by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the West Indies tour over fitness issues.
Playing for Candy Land, Umar blasted 124 runs in 128 balls and his knock included 18 fours and 4 sixes. His side managed to hit 431 at the loss 9 wickets, against Haideri Traders at the NBP Sports Complex, reported Dawn.
Umar Akmal was the only player out of 32 who failed to pass the fitness test set by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), after Pakistan announced One Day International (ODI) and T20i squads for the upcoming tour of West Indies on Wednesday.
"Any player who failed to clear fitness test would not be selected," said Inzamam, while speaking to the media.
Whereas, Umar's elder sibling Kamran Akmal and opening batsman Ahmad Shahzad have made a comeback to the T20 and ODI squads, thanks to their brilliant performances in the recently-concluded Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017.
Pakistan will play four T20Is, three ODIs and three Test matches during the tour of West Indies starting later this month.
