The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued notices to four Pakistani cricketers, involved in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) spot fixing scandal.
As per media reports, opening batsmen Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif and Nasir Jamshed along with fast bowler Muhammad Irfan were issued notices. It was reported that the players would be asked to appear before the agency to record their statements on March 20 and 21.
Earlier, Irfan Khan was suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) anti corruption unit was suspended and a charge sheet was issued against him.
Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were also provisionally suspended and later charged over meeting a man suspected of being linked to an international syndicate.
Furthermore, Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar had said that any cricketer found guilty of spot-fixing during the PSL will be sent to jail.
This business of spot fixing is our weakness. We cannot let cricketers bring a bad name to Pakistan, he said.
