The citizens of Hong Kong are in awe of a policeman of Pakistani descent, after the 20-year-old helped talk a man out of committing suicide.
Policeman Ifzal Zaffar, who is fluent in speaking Urdu was called to the scene at the Western Harbour Tunnel on Sunday morning, where a suicidal Pakistani man had climbed up a crane at a construction site, the Coconuts Hong Kong reported.
Ifzal managed to convince the man while speaking to him in Urdu, the man named Anan soon retreat from his position and was eventually taken to hospital.
Ifzal who is stationed at Hong Kongs Yau Tsim District informed the Apple Daily, "I used the techniques we learned at the academy... I think he felt safer knowing that I could talk to him in his own language."
Zaffar has won widespread praise from Hong Kong people, as they applaud him for his quick thinking and empathy with the victim. A good deal of attention, however, has been focused on Zaffars good looks, with many calling him the "pretty boy cop", and Hong Kongs most handsome police officer.
In a video shared by Hong Kong Police on Facebook, Ifzal informed his native language skills can help many Pakistanis and other Asian minorities living in Hong Kong, who might not come forward towards the police police due to the language barrier.
