Former Pakistan Test captain Salman Butt is being considered for the upcoming tour of West Indies after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) gave clearance to the national selection committee.
As per media reports, the PCB however, has remained reluctant to give formal clearance for Butt, 32, to play for Pakistan again, and the board has always insisted that it was up to the national selectors to decide his case.
The tainted opening batsman was involved in the spot-fixing scandal that took place during Pakistan's tour to England in 2010 and along with teammates, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, was banned for five-years and served jail time.
Butt, has accepted his crime and has apologized to the nation, the batsman has emerged as a top run scorer in the domestic circuit and is determined to return to international cricket at the earliest. Butt has remained active playing club matches and keeping himself fit.
Fast bowler Mohammad Aamir has already made a comeback in all formats of the game for Pakistan after serving his ban.
Meanwhile, Pakistan cricket team is busy training at the Gaddafi cricket stadium before the tour of West Indies.
