imageKARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Monday said that there was a dire need to make a comprehensive arrangement of parking, intersection and mobility of public at Numaish where all the BRT buses would stop and interchange.

He said this while chairing a meeting on Green Line BRT project at New Sindh Secretariat here, said a statement.

The meeting was attended by Transport Minister Nasir Shah, Chief secretary Rizwan Memon, PD/Principal Secretary to Governor Sualeh Farooqi, Secretary Transport Taha Farooqui, Chief Financial officer of the project Zubair Channa, and other concerned officers.

The CM Sindh was told that the project starts from Power House Surjani Town and ends at Guru Mandir. The length comes to 18.4 km and then it was revised to extend it upto Municipal Park. The cost of the project is Rs24,604.06 million.

The environmental impact assessment report has been approved by SEPA.

After completion of the project, Karachi will have its first-ever reliable, affordable, high speed mass transit system that would provide timely and conveniently service to the commuters, thereby 400,000 passengers with highest full day boarding, 50,000 passengers at one station.

The CM Sindh was also briefed by Sauleh Farooqui regarding progress of the project.

He said that elevation section from Nazimabad Chowarngi to Guru Mandir, from Nagan Chowrangi to Nazimabad Chowrangi, construction of board office intersection, construction of water trunk from Nagan Chowarnagi to Sakhi Hassan and relocation of pumping station near KDA cvhowrangi and such other works in were in progress.

The CM Sindh expressed his satisfaction on the progress of the work and urged the PD to gear it up further.
