Pakistan Super League (PSL) turned out to be a cracker of a tournament, with thrilling contests among the five franchises fighting for the PSL trophy.
However, the PSL final at Lahore became a topic for much discourse, as many foreign players pulled themselves from the tournament owing to skepticism over the security issues in Lahore.
English batsman Dawid Malan, who was representing the Peshawar Zalmi was one of those who visited Lahore, despite disapproval from his mother.
"Once I heard about the security arrangements I was pretty keen to go," said Malan, in an interview to The Times. "But my mum wasnt particularly happy and, although Middlesex and the ECB were relaxed about me making my own mind up, I had to sign a disclaimer in case anything happened."
Malan, along with fellow Englishman Chris Jordan, West Indian Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels attended the PSL final at Lahore, and went on to win the championship.
The opening batsman, however, was glad that he took the decision and played at Gaddafi Stadium, amidst foolproof security and passionate Pakistani crowd.
"It was a phenomenal atmosphere. The ground was full and the noise was intense, despite the fact the ground level is a long way from the stands. It was a great experience I loved the experience."
