Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said the government was making all out efforts to curb street crimes and the law-enforcement agencies were being equipped with latest resources in this regard. He was presiding over a high-level meeting held at the Chief Minister House, which was also attended by IGP Sindh.
He said the government had taken special measures to control incidents of mobile phone and vehicle snatching particularly in Karachi, and added that safeguarding the lives and properties of the citizens was the prime responsibility of law enforcement agencies and no leniency in this regard would be tolerated.
Dr Arbab emphasised the need for making the mobile jamming system more effective, saying that concrete measures were being adopted to curb vehicle snatching, while strict checking was being performed at the entry and exit points of the city. The Anti-car Lifting Cell and the CPCL are also performing their role in this regard.
The chief minister claimed that due to the steps taken by the government the law and order situation in the province was satisfactory while the local and foreign investments in the province were gradually rising. He also said the government had made fool-proof security arrangements for the Ideas 2006 exhibition.
