With an aim to relief load on Lahore's dry port and facilitate traders, Railway authorities have decided to construct another such facility near Kot Radha Kishan at Premnagar railway station. Chairman of National Assembly's standing committee for Railways, Sardar Tufail Ahmed Khan said here on Monday.
While talking to reporters, he said that 300 acres of land had already been acquired by Railway authorities and Central Board of Revenue (CBR) for the project, which largely aimed to expedite unloading of goods from trains from Karachi.
He said the work for laying a railway track for the new dry port would be started soon and shades would also be set up for unloaded goods at the port.
Sardar Tufail said the government had completed the survey of all the railway bridges in the country in the light of this inspection about 100 bridges were to be repaired and four new ones would be constructed.
He said the FWO was undertaking the construction of Ran Pathani Bridge in Sindh for which a budget of Rs 100 million had been spared. It could take another four months to complete, he said. Lauding the policies of the government, he said PML had gained popularity in the country due to its people-friendly policies and agenda.
