Warid Telecom and Ericsson have signed a $274 million contract, according to which, Ericsson will undertake expansion of Warid's GSM network, including mobile softswitch solutions, radio transmission, packet core network equipment, and multimedia services.
Chairman Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan signed the contract for Warid International. Under the agreement, Ericsson will provide capacity for an additional 10 million subscribers through its mobile softswitch solution and expansion of radio access network in existing and new cities.
The expansion of the network and implementation of Ericsson's leading Mobile Softswitch solution would enable Warid Telecom to cater for Pakistan's increased capacity requirements, cover its growing customer requirements effectively and smoothly evolve all-IP. Bashir Tahir, Group CEO of Warid Telecom International said, "With Ericsson taking care of network we have been able to focus on bringing high quality mobile communication services to all Pakistanis."-PR
