imageFor the people of Indo-Pak region, cricket is not just a sports but a potent tool for diplomacy as well.

Cricket once again proved its worth on Friday, after the owner of Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Peshawar Zalmi Javed Afridi, had a meeting with Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Anurag Thakur on Friday.

The meeting was held in New Delhi, during which Zalmis owner and BCCI chief discussed cricketing relations between both countries, where Afridi suggested that the Indian board should allows Indian Premier League (IPL) teams to play against PSL teams on neutral venues.

imageThe point that I stressed upon was to allow IPL teams to play against PSL outfits on a neutral venue. I met a couple of team owners of IPL here and they are quite keen to have matches with us; the meeting was very successful. The second round of the meeting will be in Sri Lanka on December 17, said Javed Afridi, reported Express Tribune.

The Zalmis owner was of the view that such events would be crucial for promoting peace between the two countries.

Sports Diplomacy #PakvsIndia has to continue, amazing & enthusiastic approach for his efforts in sports & youth. @ianuragthakur, stated Afridi on Twitter.

Afridi also presented a Peshawar Zalmi t-shirt to Thakur.
