Unknown gunmen opened fire on stage actress Kismat Baig and her guard on Thursday as her car passed through Harbanspura area in Lahore. Soon the actress breathed her last in hospital.
Reportedly, Baig received eight bullets while her guard received one. She was admitted to Services Hospital immediately.
Speaking to Geo News, her driver said that three men in a car came out and first attacked the window glass with iron rods and then sprayed them with bullets. The driver who also suffered injuries added that they were armed with 9mm pistols. The gunmen took away Kismats mobile phone and a gold chain in her neck.
Relatives claim the case is one of personal enmity, but have not registered a First Information Report (FIR) yet. The stage actor had previously been attacked twice allegedly by the same people.
Lahore has witnessed several robbery cases in past few weeks. The recent murder of four people in a botched robbery and the video footage of robbers openly looting citizens on a main road have shaken the authorities but there has been no progress in arresting the culprits so far.
Earlier, a female television host on local news channel was allegedly poisoned by a fan.
