imageKARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has stressed for strong legislation for an end to the violence against women and prompt justice to the victims for developing complete sense of security to our mothers and sisters in the country.

In his message on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women being observed worldwide under the aegis of United Nations on Friday, the PPP Chairman said that his Party has always struggled for the equal rights to the women and took several steps during in power for protection and empowerment of women in the society.

`PPP is an equal opportunities Party. We have elected women as Prime Minister (first in Muslim world), Speaker and Ministers, appointed judges and police officers. We established separate Women Police Stations, distributed state land among women and launched Benazir Income Support Programme to lift women from the lowest strata of the society. However, still more has to be done for women rights and my Party will always lead such efforts in future also like it did in the past', he added.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that PPP won't accept any kind of violence against the womenfolk as they are equal partners in Pakistani nationhood.

`Any attempt to isolate, degrade or deprive them of the rights as equal citizens of Pakistan or any soft or hard encouragement from any quarters to promote violence against women would be vehemently resisted by the PPP', the PPP Chairman reiterated.

The Chairman pledged that PPP under him will open up more opportunities for women and they will play active role from frontline to the far-flung areas as vibrant and energatic half of the society.

He also invited more women to join the party for a collective emancipation and empowerment as PPP is the only political party giving equal status to women in every sector.
