Pakistani batsman to go aggressive in second Test

Published November 24, 2016 Updated November 24, 2016 08:06am

imagePakistan cricket team had got a lot of thinking to do after losing the first Test match against New Zealand, at Christchurch. The downfall of Pakistani batsman was the major factor behind the loss, as they were unable to read the pace friendly tracks.

Asad Shaifq, Pakistans middle order batsman suggests that batsmen should follow an aggressive approach, as the visitors seek to draw the series.

"As batsmen we have to play positive and aggressive on this wicket," said Asad Shafiq, reported ESPNcricinfo.

The batsman was of the view that following a defensive approach, on seam and swing friendly pitch is not good enough.

"That was missing in the last match. We have to go for some runs, because on a wicket like this it's very difficult to stop the ball all the time because this kind of wicket seams and swings a bit. It's just a matter of time until you get a good delivery. Before that you have to take it on."

It is pertinent to inform Pakistan would go into the second Test match without their regular skipper Misbah ul Haq, after he left for Pakistan due to the sudden demise of his father-in law.

Opener Azhar Ali would be the stand-in captain for Pakistan, in the second Test match scheduled to be played in Hamilton on Friday.
