KARACHI: Senior Vice President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Shaikh Khalid Tawab has congratulated Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Shareef for successfully organizing 9th International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2016) at Karachi Expo Centre ; starting from November 22 to 25.
In a statement here on Wednesday, he appreciated the efforts of Defence Export Promotion Organization (DEPO), Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Pakistan Armed Forces for organizing this international event.
The exhibition provided an opportunity to Pakistan for showcasing its defence products as evident from the fact that Pakistan had received a large number of orders for exports of Pakistani products. Turkey had placed an order to buy 52 super-mushak aircraft from Pakistan, which would be manufactured by Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamrah.
It had also provided a good avenue for sending positive signals and soft image and warm hospitality of Pakistani people to foreign countries. This clearly showed the resilience of Pakistan's economy that despite several challenges including ongoing war on terror and regional issues etc.
He noted that the country's economy was performing well and had been gradually moving towards developing itself on sound and sustainable basis as witnessed from the fact that all the macroeconomic indicators were improving.
The slogan of the exhibition "Arms for Peace" clearly reflects that Pakistan was a peace-loving country and was almost a self- sufficient country in defence industry. It offered wide opportunities to the participants for making joint investment.
