Govt to overcome power shortage till 2018

imageLAHORE: Experts and analysts on Wednesday said the government was determined to overcome power shortage in the country and was making all-out efforts to resolve this issue till 2018.

Talking to APP renowned energy expert Dr Gulfaraz Ahmed said the incumbent PML-N government had initiated a number of power projects throughout the country.

He said most of projects were expected to be completed till 2017-18, adding that the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project was also underway and most of investment was made in power projects under the CPEC.

Veteran economist Mirza Ikhtiyar Baig said the government had invested billions of rupees in the energy sector and through completion of ongoing projects the government would be able to provide cheap electricity to consumers.

He said increase in tax revenue, resolution of energy issues including electricity tariff rationalization and reforms in Gas sector, had significantly contributed towards economic stability in the country.

He appreciated the visionary leadership of the prime minister and said that the PM's agenda of development and prosperity would steer the country out of problems.

PML-N Senator, Javed Abbasi said confidence of the international financial markets in Pakistan's positive economic outlook was a proof of successful march on attaining long term economic stability.

To a question, he said the country's law and order situation had significantly improved and its impact was already being realised by the business community both domestically and internationally.

He said development agenda of the PML-N government was creating economic stability and generating employment opportunities which were clearly leading to a reduction mark in poverty.
