ICC penalize India, rules in favor of Pakistan

Published November 23, 2016 Updated November 23, 2016 07:55am

imageThe International Cricket Council (ICC) ruled out in favor of Pakistan on Wednesday, after the ICC Technical Committee has ruled that the India Womens team is deemed to have forfeited each of the three matches it planned against Pakistan, in the Round 6 of the ICC Womens Championship.

Therefore the points to all the forfeited matches by India are awarded to Pakistan, according to ICC. The matches were due to be played between 1 August and 31 October 2016, but did not take place.

Pakistan will be awarded two points for each of the three games reported the ICCs Technical Committee, consisting of Geoff Allardice, ICC General Manager Cricket, Andy Hobbs, ICC acting Head of Global Development and Iain Higgins, ICC Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel.

Furthermore it was ruled that India shall be considered to have scored 0 runs in each of the 50 overs of the three matches, Indias net run rate will be adjusted too.

However, the decision will not affect the ICC Womens Championship Points Table, where Pakistan women's are positioned at 7th, while the Indian women's team remains stationed at 5th place.
