Famous Lollywood actor Mohammad Ali passed away here on Sunday after protracted illness. He was 74.
Mohammad Ali, usually known as Ali, suffered from kidney problems and was on dialysis. His family sources described heart failure as the cause of his death.
Doctors had advised him to undergo the process of dialysis twice a week. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. He will be buried at Gulberg graveyard. Ali was issue-less but when he got married to Zeba, she was the mother of two children.
Ali, born in Rohtak, India in 1932, was youngest among five brothers and sisters. He started his career as a broadcaster from Radio Pakistan Hyderabad, where his parents had dwelled after the Independence. He played leading roles in around 300 films. "Charagh Jalta Raha" was his first film in which he played a side role in 1962. Because of his devotion and dedication to work he won laurels in a very short span of time.
His distinctive voice and unique dialogue delivery played a key role in his success. Dil-e-Betaab, Aag Ka Darya, Hatam Tai, Dil Key Tukrey, Khandan, Insaan Aur Admi, Mohabbat Zindagi Hai, Tum Salamat Raho, Dushman, Nayya Sooraj are some of his memorable films.
For the last 15 years, Ali had dissociated himself from the filmdom because of his illness and ran the Ali-Zeb Foundation.
