The Senate Foreign Affairs Committee hosted a reception for the Association of Retired Ambassadors from China here on Monday.
The Chinese delegation led by President of the Association of Former Diplomats of China Cai Fanghai currently visiting Pakistan attended the luncheon reception and exchanged views on bilateral relations, regional and international situation.
Senate Foreign Affairs Committee Acting Chairman Senator Nisar Ahmed Memon welcoming the distinguished guests said long standing Pakistan-China relations were also growing at people to people level. He underlined need for greater Sino-Pak co-operation in the field of technology. He paid tributes to the leadership of the two countries for building a strong foundation of friendship.
Nisar Memon said both the countries had common bonds of heritage of history and moving in the direction of strengthening their economy. He lauded the role of Association of Retired Ambassadors of China for strengthening foreign relations.
Senator Nisar Memon said their visit would help in bringing closer understanding between experts of the two countries, which in turn would lay a sound base for the experts in formulating the Government policy.
He called upon the Association to use its influence to ensure Kashmiris would be given their due rights to ensure peace in the region.
The leader of Chinese delegation Cai Fanghai -President of the Association of Former Diplomats of China - stated the visit was aimed at exchanging views on matters regarding Pak-China relations in various fields.
He expressed satisfaction that Sino-Pakistan relations were growing in all dimensions and strategic and co-operative partnership was increasing day by day.
He said cultural exchanges and people to people contacts would pave the way for further development of economy of the two countries. China was opposed for the theory of confrontation between the civilisations and the remarks attributed against Muslims were baseless, he added.
Senators Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan, Maulana Sami-ul-Haq and Gulshan Saeed also spoke on the occasion.
The Chinese delegation comprised of its leader Cai Fanghai, Ambassadors (Retd) Zhang Changli, Tang Mingxim, Zheng Dayong and Chen Wsenzhao.
Senator S M Zafar and former Ambassadors Akram Zaki, Tayyab Siddiqui and Secretary Senate Raja Muhammad Amin were also present on the occasion.
