The National Highway Authority (NHA) has decided to complete Timergara-Dir Khas highway, connecting Dir Upper and Chitral districts with rest of the country, in two phases.
In the first phase 25-km Timergara to Khagram road would be constructed in one-year period while remaining about 50-km portion would be constructed following year in second phase.
He said contract of 1st phase had been awarded to NLC whose staff and construction material had reached at the site and practical work was expected to start in two days.
This was disclosed during a meeting held at the NHA regional office with NWFP Senior Minister Siraj-ul-Haq in the chair.
Engineer Ibrahim Khan, NHA regional head briefed the minister about the project, which would be launched within next couple of days. Senior Minister Siraj-ul-Haq on the occasion directed the NHA authorities to give proper attention on improvement of the highways in the province and complete the road projects on priority basis.
The minister expressed satisfaction over the new development to construct Dir highway and said not only physical work on the highway would be launched soon but delay of the past would also be bridged through expedited efforts.
