The Pakistan State Oil (PSO) has introduced state-of-the-art Japanese technology of Hanging Dispensing Units in Karachi. Also called Space Fill System, the overhead units have been set up at the Chashma Petroleum Services, located on Main Shahrah-e-Faisal, Karachi.
Earlier, the Company has set up Pakistan's first Hanging Dispensing at PSO CoCo Site at Parkview, in Liberty, Lahore.
According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, the Chashma site was inaugurated by PSO Managing Director Jalees Ahmed Siddiqui on August 23, 2005. Also present on the occasion was Kalim Ahmed Siddiqui, Executive Director Customer Services, PSO.
The innovation idea has been introduced in order to effectively utilise the small space available for refuelling of vehicles at this outlet. The outlet has a unique design with no pump islands, giving clear space for the vehicles to manoeuvre on the forecourt, the statement added.
The dispensing units are spilt in three different distinct parts ie the pumping units, the overhead retractable hose reel units and the overhead display units.
The volume or amount of fuel required by a customer is present on refuelling nozzle and also displayed in big numbers in front of the customer's vehicles.
This type of arrangement is ideal for small outlets located in congested areas of the city where the cost and availability of land prohibits installation of conventional dispensing system.
The PSO has already launched innovative and novel products like E-learning, fuel plastic cards, Internet facilities, retail automation, business centers and automatic car wash. The aggressive marketing and innovative approach, which no other oil marketing company has matched, had earned the company not only volumetric market share but also accolades from international institutions.
Establishment of this station in Karachi loudly conveys the company's message to its valued customers that the company remains 'The Leader' in the oil marketing business in Pakistan and is committed to innovation, technology and continuous improvement of its facilities to serve its customers even better.
The company has set up more than 1,250 New Vision Retail Outlets whereas PSO competitors, who had started modernising their retail outlets ahead of PSO.
The development of a New Vision outlet on an average of around 1.46 days per site shows PSO's superiority in this respect.
The 'customer focused' approach of PSO has led declaration of the highest-ever dividend (260 percent) and profits (Rs 5.7 billion after tax) by the company in the financial year 2005.-PR
