Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Acting Chief Election Commissioner on Saturday notified schedule for holding elections in one each union council of Khushab and Mandi Bahauddin districts.
Election in Junior Council No 50 Tahsil Malakwal, District Mandi Bahauddin and union council Pelovance no 50 in tehsi1 Noor Pur Thal district Khushab, the districts of Punjab province, will be held on August 25.
In union council, Pelovance No 50, Tehsil Noor Pur, Thal District Khushab election will be held to the seats of Muslim (General) category.
The Returning Officer, union council Pelovance No 50, in terms of Rule 17 (1) of the Punjab Local Government Elections Rules, 2005, had terminated the election proceedings (1st phase) to the seats of Muslim (General) category due to death of a contesting candidate for that seat in union council.
In union council no 50 in Malakwal Tahsil, District Mandi Bahauddin, election will be held to seat of minority community.
The Returning Officer, union council no 49 to 53, in terms of Rule 17 (1) of the Punjab Local Government Elections Rules, 2005, had terminated the election proceedings (1st phase) to the seats of Muslim (General) category due to death of a contesting candidate for that seat in union council no 50 in Noor Pur Tehsil, District Khushab.
According to fresh programme, date for issuance of notice inviting nomination papers by the Returning Officer has been set for August 6 and nomination papers shall be received from August 8 to 10.
Publication of notice of all the nomination papers received will be made on August 11 and objections by the voters will be filed on August 12.
Scrutiny of nomination papers and publication of names validly nominated candidates will be made on August 13 and appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers will be filed on August 15.
Disposal of appeals will take place by August 16, withdrawal of candidature will take place by August 17 and publication of list of contesting candidates with and allotment of symbols will be made on August 18.
August 25 will be the polling day and results will be declared by the returning officer on August 27.
The persons who earlier filed their nomination papers for the seats of Muslim (General) in the above said union council need not to file fresh nomination papers, if they wish to contest election to that category of seats.
However, the other persons desiring to contest election, will have to file their nomination papers along with candidature fee in accordance with the law.
