The government of Pakistan has decided to start issuing machine-readable visas (MRVs) to the foreigners intending to travel to Pakistan. The Director General, Passports and Immigration, Khalid Habib, told PPI on Tuesday that issuance of machine-readable visa to the foreigners will start within the next eight weeks.
He said Pakistani missions abroad were issuing manual visas to the foreigners, but they would be provided necessary equipment and software to issue MRVs that would also include the photograph of the visa seekers.
He also said that the machine-readable passports that were launched recently were recognised by the US, Britain and other countries.
Answering a question about possible tempering of machine readable passport, he said so far no one could dodge or tamper with this latest system.
