Higher Education Commission (HEC) would establish modern computer labs at regional centres of University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore and an amount of Rs35 million has been approved in this regard. A press release issued here Wednesday by HEC said the project aimed at strengthening and modernising regional centres of UHS at the affiliated and constituent colleges, campuses and institutions.
It would allow interactive research, information and resource sharing facilities between the UHS's affiliated institutions. It would also provide computer-training facilities for the faculty, students and staff of affiliated medical and dental colleges. Besides, provision of real time lectures to the students from local, remote and international locations would also be made possible.
Through this project mobile technical support cell at the UHS IT department would be established to attend the computer and network related complaints of the regional computer research labs with the help of state of the art computer research lab.
At least 12 computer resource labs equipped with latest 20-30 P-IV computers, 01 heavy duty network laser printer, 01 heavy duty scanner, light and heavy duty UPS, along with the required furniture would provide online access to medical graduates to benefit from the technological advancements in the field.
Students and staff of these affiliated/constituent colleges/institutions would also get benefit from the digital library access program of HEC faculty through internet.
