The Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) for the week ended on June 16, 2005 for lowest income group up to Rs 3,000 has registered 0.07 percent decrease over previous week. The SPI for the week under review in the above mentioned group was recorded at 131.18 as against 131.27 recorded in the previous weeks according to Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS). The weekly SPI has been computed with revised base 2000-2001=100 covering 17 urban centres and 51 essential items for all income groups and combined.
During the week under review average prices of six items registered decrease, while those of 21 items increased with the remaining 26 items' prices unchanged.
The items, which recorded decrease in their average prices during the week under review included onions, tomatoes, bananas, chicken farm, masoor pulses washed and moong pulses washed.
The items which registered increase in their prices are milk powdered (Nido), cigarettes K-2, gur, wheat, mash pulse washed, voil printed, coarse latha, eggs (farm), potatoes, wheat flour average quality, LPG (11 kg cylinder), tea (packet), cooked beef (plate), garlic, grams pulse washed, shirting, sugar, firewood, cooked dal (plate), rice, basmati, broken and curd.
The items with no change in their average prices during the week under review included rice Irri-6, beef, mutton, bread plain medium size, milk fresh, vegetable ghee (tin) vegetable ghee (loose), mustard oil, cooking oil, salt (powdered), red chillies (powdered), tea (prepared), lawn, sandal gents (Bata), sandal ladies (Bata), chappal sponge (Bata), kerosene, electric bulb (60 watts), match box, washing soap (nylon), bath soap (Lifebuoy), gas charges up to 3.3719 MM, electric charges (1-100), petrol, diesel and telephone charges.
