Punjab Assembly has granted King Edward Medical College the status of a university by unanimously passing The King Edward Medical University Lahore Bill 2005 on Monday. In its 19th session, Punjab Law Minister Muhammad Raja Basharat moved the bill before the House and without any objection it was passed. The House also passed the Punjab Civil Servants (Amendment) Bill 2005. However, the House could not take up The University of South Asia Lahore Bill 2004, which was in the agenda, due to lack of time.
Later, the House was adjourned till 10:00 am on April 5.
