Last Pakistani athlete out of Rio Olympics

Published August 16, 2016 Updated August 16, 2016 10:40am

imagePakistan's Olympics journey reached to an end as female competitor Najma Parveen has failed to qualify in women’s 200 meter race on Monday. Najma completed toward the end in the race and took 26.11 seconds to achieve the completion mark.

After all six members who were in the Rio Olympics 2016 got failed in the games now, Najma was the last hope for Pakistan, who could not save her position and now out of the game. Prior, Judoka Shah Hussain, who was one of the three Pakistanis to fit the bill for the super occasion, neglected to make it to the last round. In the wake of getting bye in the first round, Hussain was thumped out by Ukrainian Artem Bloshenko in the second round of men's 100 KG Judo occasion.

Before Hussain, shooter Minhal Sohail and swimmer Haris Bandey, went out with unremarkable stretches.

Pakistan's banner conveyor Ghuman Mustafa Bashir and Liana Swan, who contended in men's 25-meter gun shooter occasion and women's 50-meter freestyle separately, couldn't help Pakistan break its Medal jinx either. It has now been 24 years since Pakistan last won an Olympics Medal.

It’s the first time that Pakistan’s national hockey team didn’t feature in the mega event as it failed to qualify.
