Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) Chairman Tariq Hamid visited the walled city to assess the straightening task of the entangled wires in power system under taken as an immediate corrective programme by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco). He was accompanied by Lesco chief executive officer Muhammad Akram Arain. The Wapda chief visited Shah Alam Market, Soha Bazar, Rang Mahal and Bhatti areas.
He went round the area to inspect entangled electricity wires and directed the field staff to complete the augmentation work well in time to rectify public complaints.
Inspection by the chairman was part of the ongoing 'system augmentation drive' to ensure stable and secure supply of electricity to the consumers.
It may be recalled that Wapda is spending Rs 34 billion over a period of next five years for rehabilitation and upgradation of its transmission and distribution network.
Areas where augmentation work has already been completed include Northern Lahore, Multan Road and Kot Lakhpat.
