The NWFP Minister for Health Inayatullah has said work on the upgradation of 23 District Headquarter (DHQ) Hospitals was in progress while an amount of Rs 25 million had been allocated for the upgradation project of 200 bed DHQ Hospital Swabi.
The hospital would start delivery of sophisticated health services by the next year.
He was addressing as chief guest at the ground breaking ceremony for the upgradation of Basic Health Unit (BHU) Sheikh Jana to Rural Health Center (RHC) level and inauguration of the newly constructed bridge at Sheikh Jana District Swabi this morning.
Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) NWFP Provincial Secretary Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, MNA and Amir JI Swabi District Muhammad Usman Khan Advocate and others addressed the ceremony.
The Health Minister said the MMA government, due to its better performance and best financial management, had proved its credibility. "Even donor agencies are appreciating our strategies", he maintained.
The Minister elaborated that the present government was taking practical steps for extending basic facilities of health and education to the people, which he said, was the basic right of the masses.
He said the provincial government had succeeded in getting Saidu Medical College and Gomal Medical College recognised and also initiated work on women medical college, medical university and women university, the minister said.
Later on, Inayat inspected the under construction building of DHQ Swabi and visited Marghus to inspect the newly constructed building of BHU donated by a philanthropist, Dr Ashfaq.
