Is it so sinful to be born in a family that for generations has lived in a part of Sindh, which joined Pakistan by choice. I am proud to be a Pakistani and shall live and die in my motherland, in spite of the discrimination we suffer in our own province.
We consider all those who migrated to Pakistan, prior to 1952, as ideological sons of the soil with the same rights and privileges as those whose forefathers were born in Sindh.
However, any individual or family that seeks to migrate to Canada, Australia, USA or any other foreign state, is in my opinion an economic migrant, who is only there to "make hay while the sun shines" and then shifts back with all his assets.
Those who hold foreign residential status, or dual nationalities, are, generally, of the opinion that Pakistan (God Forbid) is destined to be a failed state, and as such, it is not safe for their children to live here on a long term basis.
People like us are wedded to this country and are here for better or for worse and when we die, our remains shall be buried in our motherland.
Unfortunately those at the helm of affairs in PIA and the establishment in Islamabad, generally belong to this affluent and close knit club of green card holders/foreign residential status holders etc.
It is a discredit today, to be a Pakistani, who does not hold a foreign passport or immigrant status, because preference is given to them for foreign postings in PIA. Merit is no criteria for promotions, recruitment, and foreign postings in the PIA.
The only political interference that prevails today, is either from the party which holds power in urban Sindh (90) or the uniformed bureaucracy.
All promotions made in recent months are based solely on recommendations from these two quarters.
Even recruitment to mediocre posts, like cabin crew was based on the list supplied by 90, while those who were selected on merit, against seats reserved for Karachi, were dropped.
PIA's marketing department is headed by a man, who has no field experience and has seldom ventured beyond the municipal limits of Karachi.
In spite of such grave provocations and discrimination by the few, we shall not ever, even think of migrating to other countries for greener pastures.
People like us only hope and pray to Almighty Allah, that somebody, someday, shall eradicate this evil and rid us from the selfish conspiracies of these economic migrants, who, today, are in positions of authority and in whose hand the destiny of this unfortunate country lies.
Our sons, our brothers and our daughters, shall live and die in Pakistan, in spite of all these hardships, because we cannot even think of abandoning our motherland. I, for one, do not hold any grudge against any settler(Mohajir, Pathan, Punjabi, Baloch) in Karachi, as long as he is loyal and considers this his motherland, which he will never desert any circumstances.
