Pakistan Kuwait Investment Company (Pvt) Limited (Pak-Kuwait) is pleased to announce its collaboration with M/s Saadullah Khan & Brothers (SKB) for participating in the development of Karachi through investment in Infrastructure Projects, starting with establishment of intercity and intra-city bus terminals in Karachi.
To commemorate the beginning of the partnership a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Mr Zaigham Mahmood Rizvi, Managing Director, Pak-Kuwait and Mr Mohammad Humayun Khan, Partner-SKB, in a ceremony held on April 16, 2004.
Karachi, the "Megapolis", has it's own culture in terms of multiple socio economic levels.
The magnitude of its social sector problems is large and can only be addressed if both public and private sectors join hands in the development of its basic infrastructure and environment, since most of these projects are commercially fundable.
With its ever stretching boundaries and a population of multiple ethnicities in excess of 14 million, Karachi still does not have modern intercity bus terminal to cater to the needs of a very heavy traffic of out bound passengers, who prefer bus travel due to economic reasons or for convenience.
Their needs are currently being met through illegally operated bus stands, creating traffic congestion on already congested arteries of the city.
The management of Pak-Kuwait and SKB complimented the efforts and progress being achieved by the Government in providing better facilities in various cities under the City District Governments.
They further appreciated the Government for initiating the concept of Public-Private Partnership to promote social sector projects by inviting private sector to undertake projects on Build, Operate & Transfer (BOT) basis.-PR
