With a view to extending international standard emergency services to people and strengthening the emergency medical services, the provincial government has provided a special grant of Rs one billion to the teaching hospitals.
Sources in the Provincial Health Department told Business Recorder here on Saturday that the government is working on a comprehensive plan to improve the conditions of emergency wards of various teaching hospitals.
The government is paying special attention to provide quality medical services in the emergency wards, apart from ensuring hundred percent free medicines in all the emergency units of the teaching hospitals.
According to the sources, the Provincial Health Department in pursuance of directions of Chief Minister Pervaiz Ellahi has taken various steps to ensure provision of quality medical treatment facilities in teaching hospitals.
In this regard, senior doctors have been deputed to perform duties in emergency units. Besides, trained and devoted para-medical staff has been posted in emergency units.
The government has also planned to establish trauma centers in the district headquarter hospitals whereas the status of the existing centers will also be upgraded. The government is also focussing to provide state-of-the-art health care facilities to people, and in this regard available resources are being re-engineered whereas co-operation of the donor agencies has also been sought, the sources claimed.
According to them, the government has also started various health projects in under-developed areas of the province through the district governments whereas strict monitoring system has been evolved to ensure judicious use of funds on these projects.
Necessary medicines and other related medical equipment have been provided to the basic health units (BHUs), besides ensuring presence of doctors and other paramedics in these centers.
