Renowned jurist Ijaz Hussain Batalvi, who died on Monday night, will be laid to rest in a local graveyard on Tuesday (March 9).
Ijaz Batalvi, who left behind a widow and two sons, was suffering from cancer. He was 82.
The Lahore High Court and lower courts stopped their routine working in the afternoon, while bars also suspended their routine work to mourn his death.
Judges, senior lawyers, high government officials and elite of the city visited the residence of the late Batalvi to condole with his son Salman Batalvi.
The late Ijaz Batalvi was known due to various important cases, including the case of Allama Mashriqi, Asma Jillani case, Bhutto case and Nawaz Sharif case.
A number of senior lawyers and judges of the higher courts, including former chief justice of Pakistan Sheikh Riaz Ahmed, Justice Falak Sher and Khalilur Rehman Remday of the Supreme Court were students of the late Ijaz Batalvi.
