CSCE raw sugar futures were 0.05 cent firmer Friday, based on gains in London sugar prices, floor sources said.
London white sugar futures reversed Thursday's losses after Indonesia's latest tender purchase, dealers said. At 8:15 am EST (1315 GMT), Liffe May was up $1.60 at $199.00 a tonne, trading $197.40 to $199.50. Volume was a light 933 lots.
Indonesian state trading firm PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia said it bought 50,000 tonnes of white sugar from Britain's Tate & Lyle at $244.50 per tonne for March 29 delivery.
On Thursday, CSCE March sugar closed 0.08 cent lower at 5.52 cents a lb after trading 5.50 to 5.61 cents.
Newly most-active May finished off 0.06 cent at 5.78 cents, within a 5.71 to 5.85 cents range, with the rest off 0.01 to 0.09 cent.
Traders cited some fund profit-taking and some light trade selling as others played the spread on the March and May contracts.
Rollover business out of nearly-expired March positions into May contracts was again the biggest feature.
Thursday's final estimated raws volume was 50,716 lots, down from Wednesday's official tally of 61,263 lots. Sugar 14 volume was 660 versus Wednesday's 280 lots.
