ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army continues relief and rescue operation in flood hit areas of Sindh. So far 65,000 persons have been rescued and 1,000 tons of ration has been distributed among affectees through helicopters and by road.
Pakistan Army has established 1 field hospital and 9 medical camps at Sanghar, Mir Pur Khas, Omer Kot and Badin. Army doctors have treated more than 85,000 patients, says a press release issued here by ISPR on Thursday.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan Army collected Rs. 1069 million in Army Relief Package during 2010 floods. Out of that Rs 662 million were spent on reconstruction which was done in two phases and Rs 380 million were spent in various relief programmes in flood affected areas.
Rs 310 million were spent in Sindh, Rs 295 million in Punjab, Rs 250 million in Balochistan, Rs 210 million in Khyber Pakhtoonwah and Rs 3.02 million in Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan on various relief and reconstruction projects.
The details of reconstruction works undertaken after 2010 floods are 1687 education institutions were reconstructed by Army troops using relief funds. It also include reconstruction of 196 health facilities, 194 religious places, 2049 houses of flood affectees, 448 farm to market roads, 1448 water supply schemes, 400 projects of leveling agriculture land in Balochistan and 127 miscellaneous projects which include vetenary services, provision of furniture for school, and livestock farming projects in Balochistan.
Pakistan Army will continue its efforts by all means to help out the people in flood affected areas of Sindh.
