mumbaiNEW DELHI: Indian shares opened 0.2 percent higher on Wednesday, mirroring Asian peers, with lender HDFC Bank and cigarette maker ITC leading the gains.

At 9:18 a.m. (0348 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was up 0.13 percent at 17,122.11 points, with 20 of its components gaining.

The broader 50-share NSE index was up 0.14 percent at 5,147.20 points.
