ISLAMABAD: Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Dr. Asim Hussain on Monday said the government was cognizant of the problems faced by CNG sector and is striving to resolve their issues however, concerns of all other stakeholders including domestic consumers, fertilizer companies and power producers are also to be considered.
He was addressing the All Pakistan CNG Association's Convention titled "My Fuel CNG" as chief guest on Monday in Islamabad.
Secretary Petroleum & Natural Resources Division Muhammad Ejaz Chaudhry and other senior officers of the ministry were also present on the occasion
Dr. Asim Hussain said that the Ministry of Petroleum has initiated various policy decisions including fast track development of new fields for increased supply of gas in the country, steps for increased storage capacity of petroleum products, revision of OMCs/dealer margins and introduction of new LPG and LNG policies to meet increasing resource demand in the country.
He said that in order to regulate the gas supplies the government has devised a load management plan in consultation with all the stakeholders.
The plan will not compromise the interests of any sector and it would be ensured that there is no injustice. However, the stakeholders also need to understand the intricacies of the issue and cooperate with the government so that both businesses and common people can benefit from this resource.
He said that gas theft act approved by the cabinet and now it would be presented in coming session of Senate. He said that the act would help to control theft of gas.
Federal Minister appreciated the role of All Pakistan CNG Association in promoting CNG as an alternative vehicular fuel.
