imageISLAMABAD: Former leg-spinner Abdul Qadir has urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to ban Yasir Shah for life saying how he can take his wife's medicine when he was on tour in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Talking to APP, about the three-month ban imposed by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Yasir, Qadir said how Yasir managed to take his wife's medicine when he was on tour in the UAE, while his wife at home in Pakistan.

"The board should have inquired the whole matter as a physician is always present with the team on every tour and all players are instructed to take medicine only after his consent. Then how did Yasir take the medicine without bringing that into physician's notice?" he questioned.

Referring to Justice Qayyum's report he said that if players had been banned at that time, then the incident of Muhammad Amir, Muhammad Asif and Salman Butt and now that of Yasir Shah wouldn't have taken place.

"PCB needs to take tough decisions," he said adding the board was doing injustice to Danish Kaneria, while it was giving undue favour to Yasir Shah.

Speaking about the PCB's proposal to play their Twenty-20 World Cup matches on neutral venues, he said the PCB chief had given a very good answer to India. "I think it is a very wise proposal. Sportspersons are considered very respectable figures everywhere in the world and there should be no compromise on their security," he said.

"It is also a very good proposal in the sense that pressure will develop on India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may contemplate on its attitude. It doesn't behave with us in the way it should have and keep on breaking promises."

To a query about Pakistan Super League (PSL), he claimed that the league was not aimed at helping the board to find talent for the future rather it (board) was interested in making money, while the franchises just wanted to win.

"If PCB manages to produce only five fine batsmen, pacers or spinners from this event then I will say it has achieved something."
