SIALKOT: President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Maj (R) Mansoor Ahmed Sunday said that special attention had been focused on enhancing export volume to strengthen national economy.
Talking to APP, he said that strengthening of national economy was imperative at this juncture and the business community of Sialkot was ready to play its vibrant role with missionary zeal in this regard.
"In order to create awareness among the local business community about fast changing business trends and modern technology we are actively considering to arrange foreign tours for businessmen especially SMEs with the cooperation of Commerce Ministry and Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP)," he said. The step was being taken for the capacity building of SMEs and enabling them to play their role in enhancing exports, he pointed out.
Mansoor said the basic concept of this programme was to enable the business community of Sialkot to reduce production cost and further improve the quality of products to compete at international markets easily.
Apart from, trade delegations will also be organized in which maximum participation of local SMEs would be ensured while seminars and workshops would also be arranged for creating awareness among the SMEs about the advancement of international markets, he said.
The SCCI, he said, "Khud Kifalat Rozgar Trust" had been launched by philanthropic business community of Sialkot for the well-being of poor segment of the society. The aim of this project was to provide financial assistance to the people with limited financial resources to help them generate employment or business opportunities for themselves.
The financial assistance was being extended in the form of interest free loans 'Qarz-e-Hasna' to be returned to the trust in pre-agreed installments, he said. Mansoor revealed the project had introduced various schemes like new CNG rickshaw and Qarz-e-Hasna for liberation from loan taken on interest which has benefited the needy. "We feel satisfied that the project is contributing towards poverty alleviation and lowering the graph of unemployment," he said.
He said that highly cordial relations would be developed with foreign missions functioning in Pakistan for obtaining visa for the SCCI members while strong relations would also be strengthened with Pakistani High Commissions abroad for publicity of Pakistani products and present the soft image of Pakistan.
