imageISLAMABAD: Former Captain Amir Sohail has urged the Twenty-20 skipper Shahid Afridi to focus on his batting saying the all-rounder needs to score runs on the board in order to lead the team from the front.

It is pertinent to mention that Afridi scored 5 runs on six balls as Pakistan beat Hong Kong by 64 runs in a practice cricket match on Monday. However he grabbed 2 wickets in the match.

Talking to APP, Amir said the leader (T20 skipper) should set an example for its team and currently Afridi's performance in the T20s is not up to the mark. "He needs to work harder with the bat and score runs," he said.

Amir said Pakistan needs to put in a lot of hard work in the T20s as England has gained momentum after winning the ODI series and will try its level best to clinch the shorter format as well.

Speaking about reports of Pak-India series likely to be staged in Sri Lanka, Amir said he does not see any harm in Sri Lanka hosting the series.

"Pak-India series should happen that is the only thing in the many minds at the moment," he said adding it should be our call and not India's of where we want the series to take place.

Former Cricketer Mohsin Hasan Khan said our ODI team was very strong but performed poor in the One Days and they had to face defeat in the series. "We performed below par in all three departments including batting, bowling and fielding," he said.

He said no game plan seen in the ODIs and therefore the team should go in the T20s with proper game plans. "Pakistan should play sensibly in the T20s as the English players are in full form," he said.

Former Cricketer and Umpire Nadeem Ghauri said Afridi is a good leader and hopefully the team will do well under him in the T20s. "Our batsman in the top order need to perform well and should try to achieve big targets against the English side," he said.

He said a player who is selected in the Playing Eleven should be given a chance for a full series and if he doesn't perform then only should be removed. Talking about the Pak-India series, he said if it takes place in Sri Lanka then it won't be a problem.
