STAVANGER: Norway, the second-largest gas exporter to the European Union after Russia, will export about the same level of gas next year as the record level it is expected to reach this year, the chief executive of gas infrastructure operator Gassco told Reuters.
"For the current year, 2015, we will probably set a new export record," Frode Leversund said in an interview. "When it comes to next year ... we can expect volumes of roughly the same order."
Leversund also said that Norway was well prepared to supply gas to Europe this winter.
Norway's pipeline gas exports to Europe totalled 88.1 billion cubic metres (bcm) during the first ten months of this year, compared with 81.3 bcm during the same period in 2014, data from Gassco showed. During the full 2014, Norway exported 101 bcm of pipeline gas via its offshore pipeline network.
