imageKARACHI: Around 80,000 sacrificial animals were sold in past two days at the Asia's largest cattle market at Sohrab Goth off Super Highway, said Administrator of the Market, Rana Imran here on Sunday.

Sharing details with the media of the business done at the site, commonly known as Mavaishi Mandi, he said more than 200,000 cows, 70,000 goats and sheep, and 2000 camels have been brought, so far, to this mandi (market).

Rana Imran said that people usually visit mandi five to seven days prior to the three day festival with serious intention to purchase sacrificial animals.

"We are hopeful that the surging sale trend in the last weekend before Eid Ul Azha would help cattle merchants to sell all their remaining animals this year," he said.

Rana Imran on the occasion also appreciated his team as well as the water suppliers for ensuring sufficient water supply for both animals and people visiting the market.

Urging them to continue with their efforts in improving the relevant arrangements, he mentioned that 16 liters of water was arranged for each animal on daily basis, that too on free of cost basis to the cattle merchants by the administration.

He said all possible measures related to security and safety arrangements have also been taken to facilitate the Karachiites and for the purpose Sindh Police and Rangers have already started patrolling areas around the Cattle Market.

The administrator of the Mavaishi Mandi, Rana Imran said administration has ensured that price lists of food items on sale in the market are properly displayed by concerned retailers and the items are available to the visitors on these rates.

Concerned shops and canteen owners have been instructed to ensure clean and hygienic food and beverages.

Rana Imran said that complaint cell in Mandi is operational round the clock and immediate action is taken on the complaints made by visitors.

He claimed that unprecedented facilities have been ensured at the Asia's largest cattle market and this also include provision for on line banking.
