imageKARACHI: The Central Executive Committee of Pakistan Peoples Party has decided to fully participate in the forthcoming Local Bodies polls in all provinces and the federal area.

In its meeting held at Bilawal House they also observed that PPP co-chair and former president of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari deserved full credit for petitioning the courts to enable party-based elections instead of non-party polls in all the cantonment areas.

Reposing confidence in the leadership of the Co-Chairman and Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari of the Pakistan Peoples Party the executive committee members also urged the need to re-activate the case with reference to Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto's murder.

It was decided that letters will be dispatched to the President of Pakistan and Prime Minister of Pakistan in pursuit of this objective.

The PPP executive committee noted that Pakistan was in the cross-hairs of a difficult decision with respect to Middle East and while PPP's demand of calling a joint session on the subject has been initiated there was urgency to make an informed decision with regard to government's policy.

Given the potential dangers of the situation in the Middle East, the PPP demanded an in-camera session where key policy contours of foreign and national security policy are deliberated after a full briefing by the government, including the options put forward by all operational stakeholders.

PPP Co-Chairman, Asif Ali Zardari in his concluding remarks said the critical level of stakes for Pakistan in moving forward while retaining its own priorities of internal stability, the party expects the government to take the opposition leadership in confidence at the highest level.

He reiterated that returning peace to the region and the Middle East where millions of Pakistani nationals work ought to be among the top priorities.

Former president said his party was committed to the protection and preservation of the Harmain Shareefain, the peaceful resolution of all contentious issues among the Muslim countries and the territorial integrity of sovereign countries.
