ATTOCK: The Punjab government has launched a special programme to improve road network in rural areas of the province at a cost of Rs. 15 billion, State Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab Ahmad said here Sunday.
Under the project titled "Punjab Rural Roads Program," he said 2000 kilometer link roads would be carpeted aimed at providing upgraded communication infrastructure to locals.
Talking to media after performing groundbreaking of Garyala Link road here, he said the Punjab govt is giving priority to the development of remote areas with the special focus to ensure better transportation facilities to the general public.
About 2.2 kilometer Garyala Link road would be carpeted at the cost of Rs.10 million, he added.
Besides, he said the provincial government has allocated Rs. 450 million for upgrading five more link roads.
Provincial Minister Chaudhry Sher Alki, MPA Malik Zafar Iqbal, MPA Shawez Khan, DCO Chaudhry Habibullah, Assistant Commissioner Nazarat Ali, ADLG Javed Bhatti, DIO Shahzad Niaz and notables of the area were also present on the occasion.
