imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said the Punjab government has constituted Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab (OSPCP) to resolve the problems of Pakistanis living abroad and the commission has been granted complete administrative and financial autonomy.

Addressing the first meeting of Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab through video link on Monday, he said that Pakistanis living abroad were the ambassadors of Pakistan and playing an important role in strengthening economy of the country.

Solution to the problems of overseas Pakistanis was the responsibility of the state and Overseas Pakistanis Commission has been set up for this purpose, he added.

He said the commission would prove very helpful in redressing grievances of overseas Pakistanis on priority basis.

Commissioner Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab Afzaal Bhatti gave a detailed briefing regarding the performance of the commission so far.

The meeting also gave approval to setting up a panel of lawyers to pursue the cases of deserving overseas Pakistanis.

It has also decided to arrange road shows in foreign countries with regard to Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab.

Approval was also granted to give internship to male and female students of universities for assisting overseas Pakistanis.

Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Pakistanis living abroad had promoted the image of the country through their hard work and no one would be allowed to grab their properties.

He further directed that advisory councils comprising overseas Pakistanis be constituted at the earliest and overseas Pakistanis having good repute be included in these councils.

He said that district committees have been set up in 36 districts of the province for resolving problems of overseas Pakistanis.

He said that information technology would soon be introduced in Overseas Pakistanis Commission Punjab and speedy measures would be taken for redressing the grievances of Pakistanis living abroad.

The Chief Minister directed that prompt justice be ensured to overseas Pakistanis. He said that the commission should fully benefit from the latest technology.

In response to the proposal of setting up overseas police centers, the Chief Minister directed that a plan be presented to him for its implementation.
